Day 1: Arriving in Hurghada

Winter always bring memories of the cold chill. Even during the well deserved winter break, one feels too lethargic to explore new sights. Not this time though. Armed with the spirit of adventure and the yearning for a warm winter, we set off for Egypt.

The package was part of Thomas Cook's deal which included a return flight to Hurghada and a 3-star hotel accommodation throughout the stay. Used to budget flights such as EasyJet and RyanAir, Thomas Cook presented itself as a higher end budget airline. It would have been better if food was provided for the 6 hours flight.

Upon arrival in Hurghada airport, we were faced with a throng of visa-makers (only 12 pounds compared to 15 pounds in London...) and taxi drivers before we even cleared the custom. The arrival hall was pretty small.

After checking into our Sea Garden hotel, we left to explore Sheraton street (just outside our hotel) for dinner and water. Sheraton street was packed with tourist friendly restaurants and souvenir shops. After walking for an hour, we decided to stick with familiar food for our dinner (we dare not risk the rest of the trip).

KFC

Their KFC was quite similar to Singapore's, other than the tax that wasn't included in the stated price. Still, the set meal cost around 60LP. After dinner, it was back to the hotel for an early rest.
