Finally, a first time visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant, albeit a little far... Still, it was something planned for a while back. In fact, it was surprising to hear of a michelin pub, and a two stars one too. Although the dress code was casual, we were quite smartly dressed. LOL... Guess there was still some etiquette.
Hand & Flowers
White bait and bread
We were served white bait and two types of bread as complimentary starters. I liked how everything is presented: simple and inviting.
Starters of scallop in warm beef bouillon
ZJ and DX ordered and starters and let us tried some. The scallop was awesome: sweet and tender. The beef bouillon was very interesting since I have never tried it before. Tasted very nutritious.
Slow cooked duck breast
Then came our mains. Quite funny that we all ordered the same dish but since it was the great british menu... Again, wonderfully presented. The duck breast was done really well and the cute pot of peas was a great accompaniment. The duck fat chips could be the best chips I have eaten. Even though the portions seemed small, it was actually very filling. At this point, ZJ and DX were being the food critics.
Hands & Flowers choc cake
Dessert was sweet, but the choc cake wasn't too overwhelming.
Overall, great food, great atmosphere, great service and great company.
