Zi char

滑蛋牛肉饭

From my previous post of eating the deep-fried food at Asia Wok, we have progressed! That was a relief, a saviour to my clogging arteries... Anyway, we found this place in our neighbourhood called Super 88. It's basically a group of different asian food stores such as Korean, Indian and Chinese as well as having a Chinese supermarket. Our favourite store so far was the Chinese one (you could tell how much we miss our Chinese food...) which is something like a zi char store. Not totally the same, but they sell soya chicken, duck, roast meats, stir-fry and other chinese-y food. The first time we went there, we shared packets of soya chicken, crispy pork and roast duck rice. That's right, sharing is our new mantra for cost savings. But rest assure as the portion was really huge.

We went back the second time and I ordered 滑蛋牛肉饭, which was stir-fry beef with egg in starchy brown sauce. Not fantastic but I won't be dismissing this store since it's one of the few lifelines to Chinese food.
